Providing yet another excuse to saunter toward a certain stretch of Oxford Street this week is the new RCA Collection at Marks & Spencer, a collaboration between the Royal College of Art and the historic British retailer.
The collection consists of a selection of 10 outfits designed by RCA students, chosen through multiple rounds of judging and refined through a rigorous editing process.
The centrepieces of the collection come from MA Fashion student Anna Smit, whose ladylike black draped shift and abbreviated tan leather jacket—pictured here, along with a sketch of the same outfit—won the admiration of judges from the RCA, M&S and ELLEuk.com. As the competition’s overall winner, Smit will design a larger capsule collection for M&S’s S/S 2011 collection.
Well done, Anna… save a dress in our size?
