Kinder Aggugini

Imagine the fashion chaos that would ensue if Coco Chanel married Sid Vicious – Kinder Aggugini’s latest collection was inspired by this notion and, he said, it’s perfectly embodied by the legendary art collector Peggy Guggenheim: “Her father died on the Titanic and she inherited millions of dollars at 21 – the perfect age to inherit money in New York. You could do anything you wanted: drink, buy a gun – this woman would have done both.” Long black dresses, one split dangerously high at the front, gained shapely curves with crystal embroidery; VIVE ART-emblazoned T-shirts tucked into cream wool tulip skirts (with contrasting stitching) and giant mustard-yellow parkas or laser-cut jackets made this a mix of rock meets art, boy meets girl – all topped by chiffon-wrapped, transparent plastic Stephen Jones hats and grounded with glittering Mary-Janes. Having worked with Galliano, Westwood and Versace, Aggugini is no shrinking violet, and the subtlety of his lace and floral prints provided a  welcome delicacy.
