The secret diary of the BFC’s Caroline Rush

The last day of womenswear saw a british brand (Aquascutum) invigorated by a leading design talent (Jo Sykes) with, as I am reliably told, the assistance of a highly dedicated team. The show was wonderful, we all placed mental orders, the stores physical orders and the media column inches. As Lisa Armstrong said to me this evening “never before have we seen so much talent on london’s catwalks, we don’t have enough space in the paper to cover it all”.

Yesterday and today I have enjoyed hearing about those commiting to buy, writing order and securing new accounts.

Meadham secured new fans with their passion led connection. Amanda Wakeley was decidedly grown up sexy, drawing coos from the audience as the pieces paraded past the audience.

There is a palpabale feeling that designers are riding high, retailers are cautious but still committing and that quality and price are running through.

The day has finished with a Dylan Jones/Anya dinner that has done me in, great people, fun chat but a long day and no amount of charm is keeping my eyes open.

Role on sleep then mens day first thing!
