At LFW The Daily, we are enthusiastic supporters of photographers who push the aesthetic of the fashion photograph in innovative and unexpected directions. Backstage moments coolly captured by the brilliant Anna Bauer, for instance, take pride of place on our front page, and tell a story as much as words.
So we are thrilled to announce that The Daily has accepted an invitation to be an official UK partner of the Sony World Photography Awards 2011, hosted by the World Photography Organisation (WPO). The Daily will judge the UK Fashion category of the SWPA Open competition, and the winner will be announced at the end of April. The accompanying World Photography Festival (26 April to 1 May) and Exhibition (26 April to 22 May) will take place at LFW HQ, Somerset House.
The winning photographer’s images will be shown on the WPO website as well as The Daily blog, and the artist will have the opportunity to join the photography team for our September 2011 issues, with resulting photos to be exhibited digitally at the World Photography Festival in April 2012 in London.
By the way, if you would like to be considered in the UK Fashion category of the Sony World Photography Awards for 2012, it launches on 1 June this year.
