LFW The Daily proudly presents a back-of-the-Mercedes interview with twins Daniela and Annette Felder of Felder Felder.
MD: What are you feeling for the Felder Felder girl this season?
AF: She’s gonna be fresh, cool and have a lot of movement.
DF: She’s very at ease with herself, has our signature rock’n’roll vibe and edgy style but in a much more effortless way. She likes to just go out and have fun and feel free to move in her clothes.
MD: Do you have anything specific that’s influencing you right now?
AF: Yes, we looked at a lot of movement and were inspired by dancers, by a German choreographer called Pina Bausch and photographs of the dancers. They’re done in such a beautiful way – the effortless way they wore their clothes and moved visually, it’s unbelievable. But we also wanted to balance it out as it can get very serious at times and Felder Felder is a lot of fun, so we infused that element by looking at downtown New York girls who like to go to gigs and have a great time. So it’s a fusion of that Pina Bausch creation meets cool downtown girl.
MD: Favourite pieces from this collection?
AF: I have a few. Usually it’s very clear but this time I think there are like five pieces that personally stand out, definitely. You’ll get to see them shortly!
DF: There are different stories within the collection and from the different stories I have one or two that make the biggest impact.
MD: Any trend predictions for S/S 12?
AF: Yes, colour – a lot of it! And also a touch of that sporty element.
MD: Anyone else you’re looking forward to seeing this LFW?
AF: I haven’t thought about it, but now that you say it after the show we’ll definitely check out the schedule. Before the show we have no time to think about anything else but our own show, it’s too mad.
DF: We’ll definitely be going to Mark Fast. I love his shows and what he does, it’s always directional but at the same time a lot of fun.
MD: You’ve been showing at LFW since 2007, any highlights in particular?
AF: Personally, our debut show was definitely a highlight as it started it all and received such a great response.
DF: Also when Coco Sumner wrote a track for our show! We collaborate a lot with musicians for our shows, so that was definitely a highlight – I had goose bumps.
MD: With two of you designing, who wears the trousers?
AF: Dani is more in charge.
DF: I think Annette is! A balance of both I guess.
MD: What’s the first thing you plan to do when the show is done?
DF: I hope that my husband will get me a glass of champagne.
AF: Me too. That’s definitely a plan.
MD: Last but not least, what’s the cheekiest thing you’ve ever done in the back of a car?
DF: The cheekiest? That’s not something we should discuss at this hour…
