What is it about an alfresco beauty look that is so perennially desirable? Maybe it’s a reminder of youth? Or maybe a sense of health and happiness? Last season this mood was captured in frosty cheeks and a flustered complexion. For summer it is the turn of fresh, glowing skin and, most importantly, a generous scattering of delicious freckles – not only the ultimate sign of youth, but of summer, too.
At Sass & Bide, Charlotte Tilbury added a smattering of freckles to sculpted features, while at Holly Fulton, models picked theirs up skateboarding along a sunny Santa Monica beach. At Kinder Aggugini (right), Val Garland used lip and eye pencils in shades of brown to apply a hefty dose of nonconformist dots to rural beauties. “I love using products in unusual ways,” she explained as she dabbed them on. “Achieve durability and a lived-in look by patting them with a cotton pad.”
