Wander up to the third floor in Harvey Nichols and you’ll find a true beauty haven, BeautyMART. Founded by Millie Kendall – the entrepreneur who brought Shu Uemura to the UK – and Anna-Marie Solowij, ex-Vogue Beauty Director and The Daily contributor, it’s a shopping experience with a difference: it’s all about the insider edit. There are currently 100 carefully curated brands on board, ranging from the well known to the niche, such as Eos lip balms, Denman scented hairbrushes and cult Japanese brand DHC.
Solowij’s new venture correlates with her time as a beauty editor, having spent 25 years advising readers what to buy – the difference being that now she recommends to consumers. Her editorial eye, combined with Kendall’s retail expertise is the winning formula.
“What makes us different is that we believe in and have personally test-driven every product in store, right down to precision-pointy buds that tidy up eyeliner,” says Solowij. Which, incidentally, have been bought by the truckload in the run-up to LFW, along with other backstage essentials, such as Bioderma’s Créaline H20 and Embyolisse face creams (not available in the UK previously). Buy from them and look at beautymart.co/blog/ and you can’t go wrong.
